far be it from me to ever blog about politics or finance or financial politics, but:
- $700 billion does not seem to be that much money. I bet it ends up costing much more than that. Cause I have a difficult time believing that it only takes $700 billion to shore up our entire economy. That seems a little loopy.
- Looks like Paulson has agreed to some Congressional oversight unlike his original proposal which included him being named Grand Pooh Bah of the money. Yippity Shit. Congressional oversight. Big Freaking Deal. What's Congressional oversight done for the past eight years? Not a goddam thing. Thanks for all your Congressional oversight on the war and Guantanamo and Abu Gharib and the rebuilding of Iraq and the search for Bin Laden.
they can pretty up all they want, but Paulson, unfortunately, will do whatever the hell he wants and the second he gets any crap about it, he'll go back to Goldman Sachs where he'll reap the benefits of just having given his employer a few hundred billion dollars.
- Save me all the BS about CEO earnings being capped. What a complete non-factor generated by the Dems as a political talking point. This is as pointless as the whole Lou Dobbs "jobs going overseas" obsession. Yes, some CEOs make unfathomable amounts of money. it's like being a head football coach. You also get fired about every three years, so naturally you try to get the best deal for yourself. it's really a very small amount of the total monies. this is a purely politically-generated issue that means nothing in the long run. Much like the Republicans ever mentioning "God" or 'gays" during a campaign.
- If I went to work for Goldman Sachs, moved to the Gulf Coast and got a subprime mortgage on my beach house, would I ever have to pay for anything again?
- How come people who couldn't afford their giant homes and took stupid loans and companies who made the stupid loans to people who couldn't afford their giant homes get bailed out while my credit just goes to shit if i don't make a payment?
- The bailout is a stupid plan. I think we should just let these jokers fail. So what if we get another Great Depression. This country could probably use one of those so maybe people might appreciate all the useless crap in their lives a bit more.

i get more and more angry with each passing day.
and yes, i've used the words "fat cats."
these CEOs know enough about compensation to get any kind of money they want--regardless of caps. They're not dumb. Plus they're greedy, or so I hear. They will get their money.
I think we should get rid of government and capitalism. Neither are beneficial. Is this possible?
If we're moving toward socialism, I'd like some free healthcare, please!
damn, I'm out of breath- I think you must of worked up a good sweat.
It's crazy, but is it really a big surprise at this point. All the other big issues have been handled with such style and grace.
I'm leaning toward despotism. As long as I'm the despot.
what the hell is despotism?
